An apple is 85% water whereas the remaining portion is full of phytonutrients and antioxidants. Apples also contain fibre, vitamin C plus other vitamins and minerals.
To maximize the food value of an apple, don’t peel it. The skin contains most of the nutrients and more than 30% of the fibre.
Three medium apples weigh about 450g (1 lb). One medium apple yields about 175 mL (3/4 cup) of sliced apples.
